QUESTION TIME! with Ed Dunlop

From his Newmarket base at La Grange Stables on the Fordham Road, Ed Dunlop has taken time out to answer questions for the first edition of Question Time! for #NOW2016

1.      How and when did you come to Newmarket?

a.      I came to Newmarket in 1993 to work as assistant trainer to the late Alex Scott at Gainsborough Stables. Tragically, Alex was murdered and I took over the role as trainer in 1994.

2.      All-time favourite racehorse?

a.      Red Cadeaux as he was a huge favourite of ours and gave us so many exciting days racing around the world.

3.      If you could swap jobs for a day what would you do?

a.      Presenter on Top Gear 

4.      What is your hobby outside of racing?

a.      Cricket and golf

5.      What’s the highlight/best thing about the Newmarket Open Weekend?

a.      The jockeys and trainers Showjumping competition as it is run by my wife!!

6.      What is Newmarket’s hidden gem in your opinion?

a.      There is nothing quite like a summer’s morning watching the multitude of horses travelling up Warren Hill.

7.      What is your funniest racing story?

a.      Australian jockey losing/ ripping his breeches in the last furlong  (Click here for YouTube clip)

8.      What is the biggest challenge facing racing?

a.      Finding enough decent staff, especially now that we have left the EU!

9.      What are you most looking forward to over the flat season?

a.      Winners!

10.  What is your favourite ice-cream flavour?

a.      Chocolate
